Project Abstract

The Internet came to change everyone’s daily life. It changed the way we communicate and interact with each other socially and at work; it changed the way we consume news and among an extensive list of others things; it also changed the way we consume music.

The MUSIC2SUCCESS project is aimed at creating a new wave of successful young businessmen and women in the music industry across St. Kitts & Nevis.

The objective is that by the end of the year participants will have setup and will be running thriving businesses across the music industry from recording studios, to management companies and Youtube channels, to generate revenue.

MUSIC2SUCCESS will allow young musicians across St. Kitts & Nevis to take advantage of the recent changes in the music industry. This shift has opened new markets, created new opportunities for new entrants, vanished some companies, merged others and changed the way players are monetizing music nowadays.

MUSIC2SUCCESS will also help create new revenue streams for young people in the music industry through distribution, marketing, recording and royalties. St. Kitts & Nevis has had a growing tradition of turning out a number of top quality artistes across various musical genres. Many have gone on to be successful and gain regional recognition. However, feedback from a number of artistes across the federation, indicate that they lack the skills and business acumen to generate a consistent income from their music. MUSIC2SUCCESS aims to address their concerns.

Program Description

MUSIC2SUCCESS will be led by a team of top-level professionals from intellectual property and entertainment lawyers, to music marketing and distribution gurus to deliver group sessions and one to one mentoring opportunities for participants.

MUSIC2SUCCESS will also provide a business hub offering support and access to cutting edge technology, advice and guidance for participants on a rolling basis.

MUSIC2SUCCESS will transform the structures of the music industry in St. Kitts & Nevis replacing physical structures for virtual structures and network structures. Mentors will work with participants to help them navigate the flexibility and dynamic of the current global music industry and monetize their products through companies such Apple and Spotify.

MUSIC2SUCCESS will also give artists, musicians, producers, and managers the opportunity to get direct one-to-one assistance with creating the legal framework for their business, access to the various music contracts, and establishing a business plan.

Goals and Objectives

The key goal of the MUSIC2SUCCESS is to enable participants to acquire millions of listeners and end users, making their sources of income to be substantial. The objectives of MUSIC2SUCCESS:

• Using the digital era create a new tier of artists who are big enough to sell out mid-sized venues and become mainstream artists.
• Work with artists, musicians, producers, managers and marketing teams to build strong online fan communities and dedicated live following.
• To help artists, musicians, producers manage opportunities to sell tens of thousands of albums without appearing in the charts.
• Demonstrate to artists, musicians and producers, how to publish their music digitally by using services like CD Baby, TuneCore.
• Work with artists, musicians, producers, managers and marketing teams to secure potential music publishing deals.
• Share the music business models used to allow artists, musicians and producers to keep 90% of the generated revenue on streaming services or digital platforms like iTunes, and keep ownership o the copyrights.
• Work with artists, musicians, producers, managers and marketing personnel to build their own label-like teams, thus becoming a business.
